Amazing antique French basket

Originally used as a market basket or possibly a fishing creek , this is a beauty . It is almost black with woven handles and its original leather and brass fittings . There is a newspaper inside dating from 1926 which I was going to discard but thought it might be of interest to its new owner - I think the basket itself may be slightly older though. 

In great condition if a little delicate, it’s perfect to display in a French style or rustic home or to add interest to a sleek modern scheme.
